Fulfilling Your Destiny

Journey Into The Promised Land

Joshua 14:6–15 (CSB)

CALEB’S INHERITANCE

The descendants of Judah approached Joshua at Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know what the Lord promised Moses the man of God at Kadesh-barnea about you and me. I was forty years old when Moses the Lord’s servant sent me from Kadesh-barnea to scout the land, and I brought back an honest report. My brothers who went with me caused the people to lose heart, but I followed the Lord my God completely. On that day Moses swore to me, ‘The land where you have set foot will be an inheritance for you and your descendants forever, because you have followed the Lord my God completely.’

10 “As you see, the Lord has kept me alive these forty-five years as he promised, since the Lord spoke this word to Moses while Israel was journeying in the wilderness. Here I am today, eighty-five years old. 11 I am still as strong today as I was the day Moses sent me out. My strength for battle and for daily tasks is now as it was then. 12 Now give me this hill country the Lord promised me on that day, because you heard then that the Anakim are there, as well as large fortified cities. Perhaps the Lord will be with me and I will drive them out as the Lord promised.”

13 Then Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as an inheritance. 14 Therefore, Hebron still belongs to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite as an inheritance today because he followed the Lord, the God of Israel, completely. 15 Hebron’s name used to be Kiriath-arba; Arba was the greatest man among the Anakim. After this, the land had rest from war.

Power To Take Your Mountain

The greatest power in all the world is not political power. It is not atomic power, military power, or economic power. The greatest power in all the world is the Word of God!

The Word of God which we call the Holy Bible is only a small part of the Word of God. The Apostle John tells us that the world could never contain all the books it would take to write down everything God did. The Word of God is not only the written Word, but the Word of God is also the Living Word.

I am talking about God, not just some words of God. I am talking about the One Who said, “Let there be light,” and there was light; the One Who said, “Let the firmament appear,” and it appeared. I am talking about the One Who took a little bit of dust and breathed into it the breath of life and created man in His own image. I am talking about Jehovah, the only true and living God!

You cannot separate God from His miracles, nor can you separate the God of miracles from His Word. God is His Word. That is why I do not get entangled in the theologies of man, because I do not look to the word that comes from man. I look to the Living Word — God Himself!

If you believe in God, you believe in miracles. If you believe in God, you believe all things are possible. The Bible is our guide, our resting place. It is the voice of God giving us direction for our lives, our homes, and our businesses. It is the foundation that stands sure even though the heavens and the earth are shaken. It has absolute authority for us in the midst of every circumstance, every problem, every distress, every sickness, and need. It is infallible. It is unshakeable. It is unassailable.

When you know that God’s Word is the final word, you will not look at natural circumstances or listen to the words of men. You will rise up and begin to do exploits such as you have never experienced in your life.

What mountains are you facing today?

  • A mountain of debt?
  • A mountain of fear?
  • A mountain of broken relationships?
  • A mountain of sin and bondage?
  • A mountain of sickness?

During this past month we have learned how God’s power is sufficient for every need. His power is greater than your mountain.

Like Caleb, it is time for you to rise up and declare, “Give me that mountain!”

Make this declaration:

Like Caleb, I am rising up today to declare — God, give me that mountain!
