Conquering the Flesh
Journey Into The Promised Land
Blessing Or Cursing?
It is the obedient — those who obey the Word of God — who have the legal right to take possession of their inheritance and claim the covenant promises.
But-obey the message, be doers of the Word, and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves (into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth). For if any one only listens to the Word without obeying it and being a doer of it, he is like a man who looks carefully at his (own) natural face in a mirror; For he thoughtfully observes himself, then goes off and promptly forgets what he was like. But he who looks carefully into the faultless Law, the (law) of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets, but an active doer (who obeys), he shall be blessed in his doing — in his life of obedience. (James 1:22-25, TAB)
The disobedient are living under the wrath of God and unless they repent of their disobedience will be punished when Christ returns for His saints. Paul told the Thessalonians:
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power. (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9)
God did not allow even one of those who had been disobedient to Him in the wilderness to enter the Promised Land. All the people twenty years and older died in the wilderness for their disobedience, just as God said they would. Only two men, Joshua and Caleb, along with the younger generation were allowed to take possession of their inheritance.
On the plains of Moab before Joshua led the people across Jordan to take possession of the Promised Land, God required the people to reconfirm the covenant He had made with their fathers on Mount Sinai. With all of Israel gathered together on the plains of Moab, Moses read all the laws and ordinances God had commanded them and reminded them of the covenant promises God had given them on Mount Sinai. He laid out the blessings that would overtake them in the land, if they were obedient to God (Deuteronomy 28:1-14). He also warned them of all the curses that would come upon them if they disobeyed (verses 15-68). That day they were given a choice to obey God and be blessed or disobey God and be cursed (Deuteronomy 30:15-20).
God sets before you this day blessing or cursing. Which will you choose?
Make this declaration:
I will be a doer of the Word and not a hearer only. I will choose to obey God and His Word and I will experience His blessing.
