Overcoming Obstacles

Journey Into The Promised Land

Isaiah 12:1–6 (CSB)

A SONG OF PRAISE

12 On that day you will say:

“I will give thanks to you, Lord,

although you were angry with me.

Your anger has turned away,

and you have comforted me.

Indeed, God is my salvation;

I will trust him and not be afraid,

for the Lord, the Lord himself,

is my strength and my song.

He has become my salvation.”

You will joyfully draw water

from the springs of salvation,

and on that day you will say,

“Give thanks to the Lord; proclaim his name!

Make his works known among the peoples.

Declare that his name is exalted.

Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things.

Let this be known throughout the earth.

Cry out and sing, citizen of Zion,

for the Holy One of Israel is among you

in his greatness.”

Dealing With The Spirit Of Fear

God does not intend you to ever be bound by a spirit of fear. He does not intend that your mind be tormented, oppressed, or obsessed by a spirit of fear. He has given you a spirit of power. The fearlessness and boldness which God has planned to be manifested in your life is imparted to you through the power of the Holy Spirit.

During the past few days we have meditated on the first strategy to overcome fear which is to recognize fear for what it is. Are you ready to receive the next strategy into your spirit?

Strategy number two: Identify the fears that have gained a stronghold in your mind and deal with them in the spirit by casting them out in Jesus’ Name. You cannot overcome your fears in your natural strength. You must recognize you are in a spiritual battle and know that through the power of the Holy Spirit you will be set free. What you are facing is a spirit of fear that is trying to bind and torment your mind until you are unable to reach out by faith and take hold of God’s promises.

Beloved, what are the fears attacking your mind? Name them, one by one, and through the power and authority of the Holy Spirit begin to cast them out, in the Name of Jesus! Rebuke the spirit of fear. Use today’s declaration and say,”You foul, tormenting spirit of fear, I rebuke you in the Name of Jesus and command you to loose your hold on my mind!” Then name every fear binding you and take authority over it.

Learn to recognize any trace of the spirit of fear the moment it attacks your mind and resist it. Refuse to allow fear to have any place in you. Bring every thought into obedience to the Word. That is where the third strategy against fear comes in…

Strategy number three: Resist every attempt of Satan to fill your mind with fear. Satan will try to use a spirit of fear to attack your heart and mind, steal your peace and joy, and paralyze your faith so that you will be unable to take hold of God’s promises and receive what you need from Him.

Don’t allow your mind to be filled with fearful thoughts. Reject them and fill your mind with the Word. To walk in freedom over fear you must resist. James said: “Submit Yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). Peter exhorts us to resist the devil, “steadfast in the faith” (1 Peter 5:9). The word “resist” is translated from the Greek word, “anthistemi,” which means “to oppose and to withstand.” The moment the spirit of fear tries to attack your mind, you must not give in to it, but resist, oppose, and withstand it in the Name of Jesus!

Make this declaration:

You foul, tormenting spirit of fear, I rebuke you in the Name of Jesus and command you to loose your hold on my mind!
