Dealing With Deception

Journey Into The Promised Land

Luke 22:39–46 (CSB)

THE PRAYER IN THE GARDEN

39 He went out and made his way as usual to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him. 40 When he reached the place, he told them, “Pray that you may not fall into temptation.” 41 Then he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, knelt down, and began to pray, 42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me—nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

43 Then an angel from heaven appeared to him, strengthening him. 44 Being in anguish, he prayed more fervently, and his sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground. 45 When he got up from prayer and came to the disciples, he found them sleeping, exhausted from their grief. 46 “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray, so that you won’t fall into temptation.”

Satan’s Deadliest Snare

There are literally untold thousands of Christians today who have fallen victim to one of Satan’s deadliest snares, yet, they are totally unaware of what has happened to them. Using one of his most subtle strategies, he has caused Christians to fall into a sleep of death. In this dangerous position, they are spiritually asleep and are unable to hear the voice of the Lord as He speaks to them. They are unaware of the movements of the enemy. They have a false sense of security concerning their own spiritual condition. They are unaware of the lateness of the hour, and the impending danger. They are deceived by spiritual apathy.

In Luke 22:39-46, we see the disciples asleep, unaware that the enemy is lurking in the shadows. Jesus had told them, “Pray that ye enter not into temptation” (Luke 22:40). Jesus knew He was going to be crucified and the disciples were going to be tested and tempted to stop following Him. The disciples’ hearts were heavy with sorrow. They were physically and mentally exhausted. They were, no doubt, discouraged and afraid.

Think about the battles you are facing this week in your own life. Are you apathetic about them? Do you really realize that the battles you are facing are not against flesh and blood? Are you facing the enemy from a position of knowing the power of the enemy or have you listened to Satan’s lies? You must realize that you are in one-on-one combat with Satan and the powers of darkness.

Receive a new revelation of the position of victory God has planned for you to have in these circumstances! By faith, lift your hands to the Father and begin praising Him for making you victorious! Praise Him for giving you power and authority over all the power of the enemy.

Now, in the Name of Jesus, take the authority God has given to you and use it. Get Satan on his side of the line. Say aloud:

“Satan, in the Name of Jesus, be rebuked from my mind. Be rebuked from my spirit. Be rebuked from my circumstances! I have all power over you. You are defeated. I will not allow you to have a foothold in my life, in my children, or in my family. I resist you in the Name of Jesus. I pull down your strongholds. I cast out all fear and discouragement. Satan, get out of my way, in the Name of Jesus.”

Now, walk in that victory!

Make this declaration:

Praise God! In the name of Jesus, I have pulled down every stronghold over my life and cast out all fear and discouragement.
