Conquering the Flesh

Journey Into The Promised Land

Hebrews 4:12–16 (CSB)

12 For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 No creature is hidden from him, but all things are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give an account.

OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST

14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens—Jesus the Son of God—let us hold fast to our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. 16 Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.

Speak What God Has Said

The Word of God in your mouth is alive with the power of God. Paul said, “For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power — making it active, operative, energizing and effective” (Hebrews 4:12, TAB). God wants to bring you into a new dimension of authority where your words, spoken with authority and invested in the promises of God, will enable you to confront every stronghold of the enemy.

God’s Word — His promises — in your mouth are life! As you speak the promises of God with authority, you are speaking life into your circumstances. You may be facing circumstances in your body where you have a serious physical condition such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, or some other physical condition that is very painful and hard to cope with. Regardless of how you may feel physically, you must not fall into Satan’s trap of confessing and speaking negative words of fear, doubt, and unbelief. You cannot live by how you feel. Instead of continually talking about how bad you feel, all your aches and pains, and the doctor’s negative reports, you must begin to speak the Word according to God’s promises.

Speak God’s promise, “He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes, we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).

You may be facing financial problems that in the natural seem impossible. You may be facing a mountain of financial debts without funds to pay them. You may not have enough income to meet the basic needs of your family. It may be that you are discouraged, afraid, and you don’t know what to do. You may think you are never going to be able to get out of debt, that there is nothing you can do about your circumstances, and that you might as well give up.

You have a choice! Death and life are in the power of your tongue! Instead of speaking words of fear, discouragement, lack, and doubt concerning your financial problems; instead of speaking about how discouraged, hopeless, and fearful you feel; instead of speaking your discouragement about family relationships — begin to speak forth the eternal, all-powerful, infallible, impregnable, unfailing Word of God. Speak what God has said, according to His promises. Spend time in God’s presence, seeking His direction and waiting upon Him to quicken the Word to your spirit. Then speak the Rhema Word, knowing it will be done and that you will have whatever you speak.

In the circumstances you are facing right now, are you speaking words based upon God’s promises or upon what you see, feel, or think?

Make this declaration:

The Word of God in my mouth is alive and powerful. I will speak His Word instead of what I see, feel, or think.
