Overcoming Obstacles

Journey Into The Promised Land

Isaiah 51:11–15 (CSB)

11 And the ransomed of the Lord will return

and come to Zion with singing,

crowned with unending joy.

Joy and gladness will overtake them,

and sorrow and sighing will flee.

12 I—I am the one who comforts you.

Who are you that you should fear humans who die,

or a son of man who is given up like grass?

13 But you have forgotten the Lord, your Maker,

who stretched out the heavens

and laid the foundations of the earth.

You are in constant dread all day long

because of the fury of the oppressor,

who has set himself to destroy.

But where is the fury of the oppressor?

14 The prisoner is soon to be set free;

he will not die and go to the Pit,

and his food will not be lacking.

15 For I am the Lord your God

who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar—

his name is the Lord of Armies.

Taking Authority Over Fear

In order to break down the wall of fear in your life, you must identify the fears that are attacking your mind as the work of the demonic spirit of fear, bind it, and take authority over it in Jesus’ Name. If you allow it to operate, fear will spiritually immobilize you until you are unable to release your faith and receive what you need from God.

A spirit of fear will torment your mind until you no longer have any peace. Your mind will be in a constant state of turmoil. If you fail to resist and take authority over it, it will gain entrance into your mind until you become obsessed — your thoughts, emotions, and will come under its control.

The spirit of fear will try to bind you with a fear of man which is a trap “The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe” (Proverbs 29:25).

If your heart and mind are continually filled with a fear of what other people think of you — fear of ridicule, rejection, scorn, and fear of what they might do to you — you will be so bound you will be unable to walk in the freedom and victory Christ has made possible for you. Fear of man will keep you from doing the work God has given you to do. Once you allow it to take hold in your life, instead of living your life to please God you will be living it to please man.

There is nothing man can say or do that can destroy us or hinder the fulfillment of God’s promises in our lives. Nothing! God said,

I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mortal men, the sons of men, who are but grass, that you forget the Lord your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth, that you live in constant terror every day because of the wrath of the oppressor, who is bent on destruction? For where is the wrath of the oppressor? (Isaiah 51:12-13, NIV)

God has not given you a spirit of fear. As a child of God, there is no room in your life for it. God intends you to be fearless. He has made it possible for you to live your life free from fear. When you face sickness or disease, financial problems, family problems, trials, tribulations, or circumstances which seem impossible and you just don’t know what to do, He expects you not to fear!

Fear is contrary to the nature of a child of God. You have not received a spirit of fear, but of power. The Apostle Paul said, “God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). If you have fear, it is because you have allowed a spirit of fear to attack your mind and you need to take authority over it, in the Name of Jesus!

Make this declaration:

The fear of man brings a snare. God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, and love, and a sound mind.
