Overcoming Obstacles

Journey Into The Promised Land

1 Corinthians 14:26–40 (CSB)

ORDER IN CHURCH MEETINGS

26 What then, brothers and sisters? Whenever you come together, each one has a hymn, a teaching, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Everything is to be done for building up. 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, there are to be only two, or at the most three, each in turn, and let someone interpret. 28 But if there is no interpreter, that person is to keep silent in the church and speak to himself and God. 29 Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should evaluate. 30 But if something has been revealed to another person sitting there, the first prophet should be silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that everyone may learn and everyone may be encouraged. 32 And the prophets’ spirits are subject to the prophets, 33 since God is not a God of disorder but of peace.

As in all the churches of the saints, 34 the women should be silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak, but are to submit themselves, as the law also says. 35 If they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home, since it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church. 36 Or did the word of God originate from you, or did it come to you only?

37 If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, he should recognize that what I write to you is the Lord’s command. 38 If anyone ignores this, he will be ignored. 39 So then, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. 40 But everything is to be done decently and in order.

The Choice Is Yours

You must learn how to draw upon the supernatural wisdom of God for direction and guidance in the circumstances you face in every area of your life. God is not the author of confusion…Satan is! Instead of confusion, fear, and frustration, God wants you to have His wisdom operating in your life so you know His will and purpose.

God wants you to have His wisdom in the major decisions you must make. When you face circumstances that, in the natural, seem impossible and you don’t know which way to turn, He does not want you to become confused or afraid. He wants you to draw upon His wisdom.

God is a God of order, design, and peace. Confusion does not come from Him. The Apostle Paul, in writing to the Corinthians concerning order in the church, told them, “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints” (1 Corinthians 14:33). Whenever there is confusion, strife, contention, or turmoil, you can be assured it is not from God.

The word “confusion” translated from the original Greek in this verse means “instability, a state of disorder, disturbance, confusion, turmoil.” There is no doubt — Satan is the source from which confusion originates. It is his objective to attack your mind and bring it to a state of instability, disorder, and turmoil. He will attack you with doubt, fear, and unbelief until your mind is clouded with confusion and indecision. You will become unstable, fluctuating back and forth, not knowing what to do. James said, “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways” (James 1:8).

You can have the supernatural wisdom which comes from God, enabling you to walk in faith and victory or you can have the worldly, natural wisdom which results in confusion, frustration, and defeat. The choice is yours. The Apostle James compared these two types of wisdom. He said:

But if you have bitter jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry, selfish ambition) in your hearts, do not pride yourselves on it and thus be in defiance of and false to the Truth. This (superficial) wisdom is not such as comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual (animal), even devilish (demoniacal). For wherever there is jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry and selfish ambition), there will also be confusion (unrest, disharmony, rebellion) and all sorts of evil and vile practices. But the wisdom from above is first of all pure (undefiled); then is it peace-loving, courteous (considerate, gentle.) (It is willing to) yield to reason, full of compassion and good fruits; it is wholehearted and straightforward, impartial and unfeigned free from doubts, wavering and insincerity. (James 3:14-17, TAB)

Is this wisdom operating in your life today?

Make this declaration:

I bind confusion and release the spirit of wisdom to operate in my life today.
