Dealing With Deception
Journey Into The Promised Land
Unholy Alliances
Just as Israel was called to be separate from the evil nations around them, believers must not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. There must not be any fellowship, communion or agreement made with unbelievers. Paul told believers in the Corinthian church:
Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, “I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord, “and do not touch what is unclean.” (2 Corinthians 6:14-17, NAS)
There are Christians today who have formed social and business relationships and partnerships with unbelievers. Christians who form such relationships with unbelievers are acting contrary to the Word of God. They are exposing themselves to worldliness and entering into friendship with the world.
Friendship with the world is “enmity against God” (James 4:4). The moment you enter into such a relationship with unbelievers, whether it be a business relationship or a close personal relationship, you become the enemy of God.
God does not want us to make unholy alliances with the world — any type of agreement that links us together with them. This separation and new dimension of holiness will be necessary if we are to be able to stand before Christ clothed in righteousness at His coming. Peter said,
Beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. (2 Peter 3:14)
Christ’s message to lukewarm church members with one foot in the world and one foot in the Church, is…“I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment that thou mayest be clothed and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear…” (Revelation 3:18).
There can be no truce with Satan. No compromise with sin. Watch out for Satan’s deceptions. Make no covenants with the Gibeonites.
Make this declaration:
I will make no truce with Satan, no compromise with sin, no covenant with the Gibeonites.
