Dealing With Deception

Journey Into The Promised Land

Psalm 28:1–9 (CSB)

Lord, I call to you;

my rock, do not be deaf to me.

If you remain silent to me,

I will be like those going down to the Pit.

Listen to the sound of my pleading

when I cry to you for help,

when I lift up my hands

toward your holy sanctuary.

Do not drag me away with the wicked,

with the evildoers,

who speak in friendly ways with their neighbors

while malice is in their hearts.

Repay them according to what they have done—

according to the evil of their deeds.

Repay them according to the work of their hands;

give them back what they deserve.

Because they do not consider

what the Lord has done

or the work of his hands,

he will tear them down and not rebuild them.

Blessed be the Lord,

for he has heard the sound of my pleading.

The Lord is my strength and my shield;

my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.

Therefore my heart celebrates,

and I give thanks to him with my song.

The Lord is the strength of his people;

he is a stronghold of salvation for his anointed.

Save your people, bless your possession,

shepherd them, and carry them forever.

Your Secret Weapon

There are six important steps to free us from the bondage and deception of Satan. The first step is to recognize the power of confession; second is to know who really loves you; third is to break sins’ barriers; and fourth is to accept the rules. Today, we will take the last two steps:

Fifth, locate your enemy. We cannot only take God’s Son as our salvation and God’s Word as our rule of life, but we can take God’s Spirit as our great weapon and the key to our greatest victories.

Many years ago when I was in India, I was wrestling in prayer against the evil spirits of that country (the spirits of idolatry and many other kinds of evil spirits). God drew my attention to the needs of America, and He said to me, “Son, the same thing you are battling here is what has to be battled in the other nations and in the lives of people everywhere. In America you are not just dealing with the drug culture or people trying to tear down the structure of society. You are dealing with spirits!”

The Apostle Paul declared, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). I know there are many things which you are battling against — bad habits, problems, family disorders, spiritual conflicts, and sicknesses — but no matter what, we have the key to victory:

And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (Matthew 16:19)

Sixth, learn how to use our secret weapon. God will not send us into battle against armored tanks with water pistols as weapons. He will, so to speak, arm us with missiles against the enemy. He knows that in ourselves we are no match for the devil’s spirits, but He has taken care of this inequality by arming us with His own blessed Holy Spirit. Jesus told His disciples, “But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you” (Acts 1:8).

Writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle John penned these mighty words: “Ye are of God little children and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world!” (1 John 4:4).

Think about it! How could anyone fail with a promise like that to hold onto? Armed with this tremendous Spirit of God, we have the right and authority to come against any evil spirit in the Name of Jesus. We can come against any invasion of Satan into our lives.

Make this declaration:

I am a child of God and can overcome all enemy forces because greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.
