Possessing the Land
Journey Into The Promised Land
Not One Thing Has Failed
During this past year we have followed in the footsteps of God’s people, Israel, as they crossed over Jordan to possess their Promised Land. We have learned many spiritual lessons along the way. In today’s Bible reading, God’s servant, Joshua, is sharing his last words with God’s people. Joshua said:
Joshua 23:14 (CSB)
14 “I am now going the way of the whole earth, and you know with all your heart and all your soul that none of the good promises the LORD your God made to you has failed. Everything was fulfilled for you; not one promise has failed.
In crossing a trackless desert, Israel came to know God as a refuge and guide. They came to know Him as provider, as for forty years they wandered without their shoes and clothing wearing out. They came to know Him as their deliverer as they faced battles and perils and they came to know Him as the God Who heals. I pray that during our spiritual journey of this past year, you, too, have come to know God in each of these dimensions.
The Prophet Isaiah declared that the Lord will not fail:
Isaiah 42:4 (CSB)
4 He will not grow weak or be discouraged
until he has established justice on earth.
The coasts and islands will wait for his instruction.”
This prophecy says that the Redeemer will not fail nor be discouraged until He establishes justice in the earth!
Jesus did not fail us at the cross or become discouraged on His way there! He set His face like a flint to reach that heaven-set goal of becoming our sacrifice on Calvary. He was not discouraged at His task although others misunderstood Him, mocked, persecuted, forsook, and denied Him. Still, He pressed on until His task was performed. Today He continues not to fail or become discouraged, even though humanity often seems to be running amuck!
God has not forgotten His chosen, His faithful, His people. Don’t be discouraged if the journey seems long and arduous. When the time is right, Jesus will appear in the clouds of glory to catch His Bride up to the heavens and begin the course of judgment which will bring justice on the world.
In the meantime, let us who have a task here below draw strength and determination from the God who cannot fail as we march forward to even greater victories during the coming year. As you look back over this past year, join me in this final declaration of praise to God. . .
Make this declaration:
“Blessed be the Lord, that hath given rest unto His People… according to all that He promised: there hath not failed one word of all His good promise, which He promised” (1 Kings 8:56).
