THE PARABLE OF THE SOWER EXPLAINED

¹⁸“So listen to the parable of the sower: ¹⁹When anyone hears the word about the kingdom and doesn’t understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the one sown along the path. ²⁰And the one sown on rocky ground—this is one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy. ²¹But he has no root and is short-lived. When distress or persecution comes because of the word, immediately he falls away. ²²Now the one sown among the thorns—this is one who hears the word, but the worries of this age and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. ²³But the one sown on the good ground—this is one who hears and understands the word, who does produce fruit and yields: some a hundred, some sixty, some thirty times what was sown.”

Today, we continue meditating on natural principles of harvest and applying them spiritually.

You must cultivate the new seed: After a farmer puts seed in the ground, he cultivates it. He waters it, hoes the weeds, and breaks up the ground so it will grow. He guards the seeds and young plants from pests and disease.

Each day during this month, you are receiving tremendous seeds of revelation regarding your finances in this devotional guide. If they are to produce a harvest in your life, however, you must cultivate them. You must guard them from the enemy and refuse to let him snatch them from you. (Take time right now to study more about this in Matthew 13:18-23.)

You reap in proportion to the amount sown: Seed reproduces after its own kind in the natural world. If you plant apple seeds you will harvest apples. The same is true in the spirit world:

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (Galatians 6:7)

If you plant abundantly, you will reap abundantly:

(Remember) this: he who sows sparingly and grudgingly will also reap sparingly and grudgingly, and he who sows generously and that blessings may come to someone, will also reap generously and with blessings. (2 Corinthians 9:6, TAB)

This principle applies in every area of spiritual life. If you give grudgingly of your time, talents, and finances to the work of God, then your harvest will be small. If you sow generously, you will reap abundantly.

There are four levels of productivity in spiritual harvest described in John 15. You can bring forth:

Fruit: John 15:2
More fruit: John 15:2
Much fruit: John 15:5
Permanent fruit: John 15:16

In the realm of finances, God’s desire is that you sow abundantly so you can reap abundantly.

Make this declaration:

I will sow generously and I will reap fruit, more fruit, and much fruit. My fruit will be permanent. Satan will not be able to steal it.
