How to Pray
5 “Whenever you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. 7 When you pray, don’t babble like the Gentiles, since they imagine they’ll be heard for their many words. 8 Don’t be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask him.
Giving
(38) “Give, and it will be given to you; a good measure – pressed down, shaken together, and running over – will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”
– Luke 6:38 CSB

Vision
Here’s what I want us to do…
- Equip the Body of Christ for ministry and warfare.
- Shift our focus to becoming more missional.
- Move from consumer to missionary.
Here’s why…
- Our mission is to Build Up the Body of Christ.
- Friday nights allow for wider participation.
- Open weekends gives time for the application of what we have learned.
- Our culture is changing, and we need to allow God to teach us how to walk in His way in the changing context. Applying His way to our context is writing out Acts 29.
Here’s what it will take…
- Meet on Friday evenings.
- Commit to becoming more missional in our Proclamation and Demonstration.
- This might look like:
- Attending a church service and checking in with other believers.
- Going to another person’s house or inviting them to yours and sharing what you are learning.
- Practice our listening skills and gospel fluency in these conversations.
- Minister to our brothers and sisters through fellowship and prayer.
- As we move, He meets us. We must learn to live more and more in the presence of God.
- (20) And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word by the accompanying signs. – Mark 16:20 CSB

Look To God – 11/12/2020
Deuteronomy 26:1-9
In the Old Testament, when God was preparing to lead His children out of Egypt, instead of circumstances getting easier, they became harder. The main reason for this was that God hardened Pharaoh’s heart (Exodus 10:1).
When God finally delivered Israel, He performed mighty miracles despite overwhelming odds. He delivered His children from the bondage of Egypt and preserved and protected them through the torturous years they spent in the wilderness:
(8) “Then the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, with terrifying power, and with signs and wonders. (9) “He led us to this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey. – Deuteronomy 26:8-9 CSB
God could have chosen some other way to get Israel out of Egypt. He could have immediately and instantaneously transported three million people of Israel to the Promised Land, but He chose to deliver them instead in a series of miracles such as have never been duplicated.
It often has been said that “it is darkest just before the dawn.” Often when circumstances seem to be most difficult, the way is being paved for God to do such a great work of deliverance in our lives that we will know beyond the shadow of a doubt that it was His great arm that saved us.
One purpose of circumstances, then, is that God might prove His power and glory to a world that needs to see His majesty. Another is that He might prove Himself to us in such a way that we might learn to trust Him with utter confidence despite the gravity of the circumstances around us.
God will meet the circumstances of today and tomorrow. We know this, because He already has proved Himself in the circumstances of yesterday. As a verse of the well-known hymn Amazing Grace says:
“Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come.
‘Tis grace that brought me safe thus far; And grace will lead me home.”
God is sufficient for your circumstances. He wants to use them to demonstrate His power and glory. He wants to prove Himself so you can learn to trust Him with utter confidence.
Today, don’t look to your circumstances. Look to the bigness of your God.
Make this declaration:
I will not look to the bigness of my circumstances. I will look to the bigness of my God.
Prayer
There is a tremendous weapon God has given us which is powerful enough to penetrate into the spirit, break through enemy territory, bind the power of the enemy, and destroy Satan’s strongholds. That weapon is prayer!
